I live in Broadstone, Dorset, a village on the outskirts of Poole. The area is supposedly a prosperous one, Sandbanks is one of the most expensive pieces of real estate on the planet. Just a few miles away Poole town centre is dying. Numerous shops lie empty, charity shops and pound stores abound, though even some of the charity shops are closing down. Even McDonald’s and Burger King have abandoned the town.
This documentary project is tracking the death of a British Seaside town, but the scene is replicated across the country with town centres seemingly in a terminal decline.
